Incarnational Centering Prayer

Incarnational Centering Prayer is based on the essential guidelines of Centering Prayer.  Yet it also draws forth from Thomas Keating’s works other advanced and subtle teachings.  And it presents other practices and teachings to help you in the depths, lengths and breadths of the contemplative journey to union with God and unity in God.

Incarnational Centering Prayer’s Purpose is:

•To sustain the spiritual essence and vitality of Fr. Thomas Keating’s teachings

•To nurture the living embodiment of these teachings through the advanced training of practitioners, especially in contemplative practice, community, service and – for those drawn by God  – the teaching of Centering Prayer

•To create a living, growing, continually developing contemplative tradition that is open to the changing needs of the future, especially through researching and developing new practices, resources and supports for younger generations of seekers

Contemplative Outreach of Colorado

David Frenette offers classes, retreats and Contemplative Spiritual Direction on Incarnational Centering Prayer under the spiritual auspices of Fr. Thomas Keating and with the organizational support of Contemplative Outreach of Colorado.  Contemplative Outreach of Colorado includes the Center for Contemplative Living in Denver, the Centering Prayer retreat operations at Fr. Keating’s home, St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, many prayer groups throughout the state, and a broader circle of friends and supporters outside Colorado, U.S.A.

Fidelity to the integrity of any spiritual movement seems to be two-pronged.  One is to maintain the wisdom of the past along with its experience and senior teachers.

One consults the tradition, in other words, with great respect and willingness to learn and then one sees whether new situations or new inspirations are calling us out of certain structures into others that might be more effective or that might incorporate new ideas and programs into the original inspiration.

The Life-Giving Fountain

Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; if they do, the skins burst, the wine runs out, and the skins are lost.  No, they put new wine into fresh skins and both are preserved.    Mt 9: 17
