For anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, that person will save it.        Luke 9: 24

Swimming

Training in the Incarnational practice of Centering Payer provides a powerful means to enhance your practice and provide help and preventive measures for dealing with the challenges of the spiritual journey. Just as with swimming, there are two ways it does this.  When you are swimming you may occasionally get into trouble, perhaps being swept far from shore with the current, struggling in rough waters, getting tired out or even hurt and unable to easily stay afloat. During times like these what you need is help or rescue from a lifeguard or other helpful person.

If before you go into the water you are well-trained as a swimmer, having learned and practiced different strokes and swimming techniques, you will be better-equipped to handle difficulties as they come up. Knowing how to ride the waves in rough waters or how to confidently float when the water gets deep is skillful practice for swimming.

                               Rescue

You will probably have times in your life when you feel like you’re in over your head, like you’re drowning in the waters of spiritual confusion or doubt, perhaps experiencing a dark night. David Frenette and the work of spiritual direction as applied to your particular path can be a lifesaving rescue opportunity, as he helps connect you back with the presence and action of God.

                        Skillful Training

But in order to help prevent those experiences of near-drowning, it can be exceedingly helpful to learn skillful practices that make your spiritual journey easier, to prepare you ahead of time to better cope with the inevitable storms of your divine and human life.

Going through the training in the depths, breadths and lengths of contemplative practice makes the spiritual journey itself a little easier, more open to God’s giftedness, even more joyous.  With training, transformation, the death of the false self and new life in Christ can more easily emerge through the fullness of contemplative prayer.

Training in Incarnational Contemplation begins with Deepening Centering Prayer.   This training extends the basic guidelines of Centering Prayer and the attitudes and perspectives of The Path of Centering Prayer in newer, more skillful ways, allowing your practice and your life to deepen and become much more valuable, from God’s perspective and the way God provides ultimate human meaning, in life.

Why wait until you are over your head or drowning to get help? Take advantage of the resources available to you in order to maximize your practice, get the most of the resources in the Christian contemplative tradition, and reach the fullness of the Christ life.

The Training in Incarnational Contemplation and Centering Prayer is for:

  1. Bullet  Those who know Centering Prayer and want to go further in its advanced practice

  1. Bullet  Those who are just beginning Christian contemplation and want to learn a more skillful way of practicing

Jesus Helping

the Blind Man

When the local people recognized him they spread the news through the whole neighborhood and took all that were sick to him, begging him just to let them touch the fringe of his cloak.  And all those who touched it were completely cured.
